kotigobba sharana song lyrics in kannada

The Small Church Music website was founded in the year 2006 by Clyde McLennan (1941-2022) an ordained Baptist Pastor. For 35 years, he served in smaller churches across New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania. On some occasions he was also the church musician.

As a church organist, Clyde recognized it was often hard to find suitable musicians to accompany congregational singing, particularly in small churches, home groups, aged care facilities. etc. So he used his talents as a computer programmer and musician to create the Small Church Music website.

During retirement, Clyde recorded almost 15,000 hymns and songs that could be downloaded free to accompany congregational singing. He received requests to record hymns from across the globe and emails of support for this ministry from tiny churches to soldiers in war zones, and people isolating during COVID lockdowns.

Clyde’s focus was to provide these recordings at no cost and that will continue as it always has. However, there will be two changes over the near to midterm.

Kotigobba Sharana Song Lyrics in Kannada: A Complete Guide to the Devotional Hymn Introduction: The Spiritual Power of “Kotigobba Sharana” Karnataka’s rich tradition of Vachana literature and devotional folk music has given us countless hymns that continue to inspire millions. Among these, the song “Kotigobba Sharana” (ಕೋಟಿಗೊಬ್ಬ ಶರಣ) holds a special place in the hearts of devotees, particularly followers of Lingayatism and admirers of the 12th-century social reformer and mystic poet, Basavanna (Basaveshwara). If you have been searching for the "kotigobba sharana song lyrics in Kannada," you have come to the right place. This article provides the complete original lyrics in Kannada script, their meaning, the song’s spiritual context, and why this hymn remains timeless.

1. The Meaning of “Kotigobba Sharana” Before diving into the lyrics, it is essential to understand the title. Kotigobba (ಕೋಟಿಗೊಬ್ಬ) translates to “one in a crore” (10 million) – meaning extremely rare, peerless, or unparalleled. Sharana (ಶರಣ) means a devotee who has surrendered completely to God (usually Lord Shiva, referred to as Kudala Sangama Deva in Basavanna’s vachanas). Thus, Kotigobba Sharana refers to “a devotee who is one in ten million” – a soul of the highest order, completely selfless and merged with the divine. The song eloquently describes the qualities of such a rare devotee.
