Deep Review – Insect Prison

The utility of an "insect prison"—whether it takes the form of a terrarium, a agricultural rearing crate, or a collector’s kill jar—depends entirely on the management of resources. A "full" prison is often an efficient one; in sericulture (silk farming) or entomophagy (insect farming for food), high-density housing is necessary for economic viability. However, the moment the environment becomes overcrowded, the utility plummets. Waste accumulates, pathogens spread, and stress-induced aggression rises. To "save" the investment and the insects, one must understand that a full prison requires a corresponding increase in vigilance. It requires a balance where the container is full of life, but not full of suffering.
