The story follows , a 32-year-old man who once dreamed of joining the Japan Defense Force (JDF) to fight Kaiju alongside his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro . After failing the entrance exams multiple times, Kafka finds himself working for Monster Sweeper Inc., a company responsible for the gruesome task of cleaning up Kaiju corpses after the JDF finishes their battles.
